LinkedIn Ad Specs 2026: Image, Video, Carousel, Document and Message Ads

Short answer: LinkedIn single image ads are 1200×628 (1.91:1), 1200×1200 (1:1) or 720×900 (4:5), up to 5 MB. Video ads are MP4 between 75 KB and 500 MB, 3 seconds to 30 minutes long (15 to 30 seconds recommended), in 16:9, 1:1, 4:5 or 9:16. Carousels take 2 to 10 cards at 1080×1080, document ads up to 100 MB and 300 pages. For feed ads, keep intro text to 150 characters and headlines to 70 to avoid truncation. LinkedIn publishes no safe zone for vertical video; measured in the app, keep about 192 px top, 346 px bottom and 65 px on each side of a 1080×1920 frame clear.

Check a LinkedIn video before upload

The Safe Zone Checker draws the LinkedIn mobile interface, as measured in the app, over your own vertical video, and the Aspect Ratio Calculator gives the exact size for each LinkedIn ratio. Both run in your browser with nothing uploaded.

9:16 vertical720 × 1280 px360 × 640 px1080 × 1920 px

Note that the 9:16 maximum is 1080×1920, so a 4K vertical master has to be scaled down before upload. Upload captions as an SRT file rather than relying on burned in text alone: they stay legible when the player is small.

Document ads

Documents are rendered page by page in the feed, so design each page for a phone first: large type, one idea per page, and the brand on the first page rather than the last.

Conversation, message and text ads

Conversation ads deliver a branching message in LinkedIn messaging: a subject of up to 60 characters, messages of up to 8,000 characters with up to 10 emojis each, and up to 5 call to action buttons per message (50 per conversation) of up to 25 characters each. An optional banner is up to 300×250 px, JPG or PNG, 2 MB.

Message ads are a single message: subject 60 characters, body 1,500 characters with up to 10 emojis, a button of up to 20 characters, and an optional 300×250 banner that shows on desktop only. In the EEA and Switzerland, sponsored messages reach only members who have opted in.

Text ads still exist on the right rail of desktop pages: a 100×100 image, a 25 character headline and a 75 character description, with a destination URL of up to 500 characters.

LinkedIn video safe zone

LinkedIn's specs give sizes, lengths and file limits, but no safe zone. The numbers below are our own measurement of the LinkedIn mobile app on a 1080×1920 vertical video, and the checker uses them. Treat them as a guide, not an official spec.

EdgeMeasured on 1080×1920What sits there (observed)
Top192 px (10%)The company name and logo, the Promoted label and the follow control
Bottom346 px (18%)The headline, the call to action button and the player controls
Left and right65 px (6%) eachEdge buffer; the sound and reaction controls sit on the right on some layouts
Clear area950 × 1382 px, from (65, 192) to (1015, 1574)
192 px346 px950 × 1382

Square and landscape videos in the standard feed card carry their intro text above the frame and the headline and call to action below it, so they mostly lose only the player controls. Vertical video in full screen is where the interface covers the frame, and where the margins above matter.

Preflight checklist

  1. Pick the ratio per placement: 1:1 or 4:5 for the mobile feed, 16:9 for desktop and in stream, 9:16 for full screen vertical.
  2. Keep video files between 75 KB and 500 MB and under 30 fps. Vertical at most 1080×1920.
  3. Keep intro text to 150 characters and headlines to 70, or they will be cut.
  4. Add an SRT caption file to every video.
  5. Keep text and logos out of the measured margins on vertical video. Confirm it in the checker.
  6. Tag the destination URL. The UTM builder and the UTM guide for paid media explain which source and medium values land in GA4's Paid Social channel.

LinkedIn ad specs FAQ

What size is a LinkedIn image ad?

1200×628 px for landscape, 1200×1200 px for square and 720×900 px for 4:5 vertical, as JPG, PNG or GIF up to 5 MB.

500 MB, with a minimum of 75 KB. Older guides still quote 200 MB, which is out of date.

Up to 200, but only about 70 show on most devices before truncation. Carousel card headlines are limited to 45 characters, text ad headlines to 25.
