Snapchat Safe Zone 2026: Ad Dimensions, Margins and Checker
Short answer: on a 1080×1920 Snapchat ad, keep text, logos and other key elements out of the top 192 px (10%), the bottom 672 px (35%) and 65 px (6%) on each side. Snap publishes this as one safe zone spec across Stories, Spotlight and Commercials, for Single Image or Video ads, Story ads, Collection ads (including Dynamic Collection) and Commercials. A block on the lower right also keeps the profile and call to action icons clear: in the lowest 864 px of the frame, stay 162 px from the right edge. That leaves a clear area of 950 × 1056 px, which narrows to 853 px wide below y 1056.

Snapchat safe zone in pixels
| Edge | Snap ads | Where the number comes from | Organic Snap (measured) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top | 192 px (10.0%) | Snap's safe zone page: 10% of the height | 150 px (7.8%) |
| Bottom | 672 px (35.0%) | Snap's safe zone page: 35% of the height | 328 px (17.1%) |
| Left and right | 65 px (6.0%) | Snap's safe zone page: 6% of the width on each side | 54 px (5.0%) |
| Lower right block | x 918 to 1015, y 1056 to 1248 | Drawn in Snap's safe zone diagram: the rightmost 15% of the width, rising to 45% above the bottom, for the profile and call to action icons | None |
| Clear area | 950 × 1056 px, from (65, 192) to (1015, 1248), 853 px wide below y 1056 | About 972 × 1442 px |
Snap used to print a different number per format: 150 px at the top in its Commercials specs and 450 px at the bottom in its Collection ads specs. Those older pages still show them, but they now link to the safe zone page, which replaces them with one spec for every placement. Build to that one spec and the same creative works on Single Image or Video ads, Story ads, Collection ads and Commercials. In Ads Manager you can switch on the Safe Zone toggle in the preview to see Snap's own overlay, but note that Snap's Dynamic CTA variants do not appear in that preview.
What Snapchat draws over your ad
- Brand name and headline: both are required on Single Image or Video ads. Snap's spec page allows up to 32 characters for the brand name and 34 for the headline, and the brand name has to be the paying advertiser and differ from the headline. The overview page on Snapchat for Business still lists 25 characters for the brand name, so 25 is the safe choice.
- Call to action pill and progress bar: named by Snap as the interface its safe zones protect. For eligible Snap ads the call to action format and position may be chosen dynamically, which is why the bottom margin is generous.
- Profile and call to action icons: a small column on the lower right, directly above the bottom band. The safe zone keeps the rightmost 15% of the frame clear from y 1056 down to y 1248, so a right aligned price or logo there ends up under the icons.
- Commercials: a six second ticker showing the ad's duration appears at the top, inside the top margin, and an AD label sits in the lower right corner.
- Collection ads: two, three or four square thumbnails run along the bottom of the screen, with the call to action at the upper left of the thumbnail area and the AD label at its upper right. They sit inside the 35% bottom band, which is one reason that band is so deep.

Snapchat ads versus TikTok ads
Reusing one vertical creative on both platforms is common, and it works if you design in the right direction. Here are the two official templates on the same 1080×1920 frame:
| Edge | Snapchat ads | TikTok In-Feed Ads |
|---|---|---|
| Top | 192 px | 240 px |
| Bottom | 672 px | 660 px |
| Sides | 65 px each | 120 px each |
| Lower right block | x 918 to 1015 from y 1056 to 1248, so 162 px on the right in the lower part | x 780 to 960 from y 840 down, so 300 px on the right in the lower part |
| Clear area | 950 × 1056 px, 853 px wide below y 1056 | 840 × 1020 px, 660 px wide below y 840 |
The two boxes almost nest. TikTok's clear box, x 120 to 960 and y 240 to 1260, sits inside Snapchat's, x 65 to 1015 and y 192 to 1248, except for its last 12 px at the bottom, and TikTok's action column already covers Snap's lower right block. So one box clears both: x 120 to 960 and y 240 to 1248, staying left of x 780 below y 840. A creative built only to Snapchat's margins will lose its edges and its lower right on TikTok, so design to that shared box and use the extra room on Snapchat for nothing essential.
Two other differences matter when you reuse creative. Snapchat Commercials are non skippable for the first six seconds, so the story can build; TikTok ads can be scrolled past at any time, so the hook has to land in the first second. And Snap requires audio on Commercials; on TikTok, TopView carries the same rule.
Common mistakes
- Using the old per format numbers. 150 px at the top and 450 px or 330 px at the bottom still appear on Snap's older Commercials, Collection ads and app install spec pages, but those pages now point to the single safe zone: 192 px top, 672 px bottom and 65 px sides on 1080×1920. Values such as 210 px top or 100 px sides were never Snap's.
- Putting legal copy at the very bottom. Snap asks for disclaimers to sit well above the bottom buffer.
- Ignoring the lower right. The profile and call to action icons sit just above the bottom band on the right, so keep the rightmost 162 px clear in the lowest 864 px of the frame.
- Silent Commercials. They must include audio.
Snapchat safe zone FAQ
What is the Snapchat safe zone in pixels?
On 1080×1920, 192 px at the top, 672 px at the bottom and 65 px on each side, which is 10%, 35% and 6%, from Snap's official safe zone page. A block on the lower right, x 918 to 1015 and y 1056 to 1248, keeps the profile and call to action icons clear.
Does Snapchat have an official safe zone template?
Snap's safe zone page shows the zone as a diagram and points to the Safe Zone toggle in the Ads Manager preview. Our PNG template draws the same margins and the lower right block for use in an editor.
Is the Snapchat safe zone the same for Stories, Spotlight and Commercials?
Yes. Snap publishes one safe zone spec across Stories, Spotlight and Commercials, and applies it to Single Image or Video, Story, Collection (including Dynamic Collection) and Commercial ads.
What size should a Snapchat ad be?
1080×1920 at 9:16. Images must be at least 720×1280. Video files can be up to 1 GB.
Can I use my TikTok ad on Snapchat?
Almost always. TikTok's safe box fits inside Snapchat's except for its lowest 12 px, y 1248 to 1260, so keep content above y 1248. Check the export with the Snapchat preset in the Safe Zone Checker to be sure.
How long can a Snapchat ad be?
Single Image or Video ads run 3 seconds to 30 minutes. Standard Commercials are 3 to 6 seconds and Extended Play Commercials 7 to 180 seconds.
